Welcome to the
Voices in the Laurel Homepage!
Starting it's fourteenth season, this not-for-profit community organization based in Western North Carolina stresses musical excellence for young people. Voices in the Laurel began in the summer of 1996 as a single 33-singer choir, and has since grown into a regional choral music program consisting of three performance groups. The organization is now made up of approximately 100 singers, ranging from first through the twelfth grades.
Voices in the Laurel includes three levels of choirs: Treble Makers for singers in grades one and two; Concert Choir for singers in grades three, four and five; and Chamber Choir for singers in grades six through twelve. These choristers rehearse weekly from August through May, and some participate in special concerts, camps and other activities during the summer months. We invite you to learn more about our organization and the music that we sing.
The Choir's
repertoire consists of music ranging from Renaissance motets
to contemporary compositions, from Baroque music to folk
melodies from around the world.
